Location: Newmarket, travel in York Region/South Simcoe
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the data accuracy of the payroll system and full cycle processing of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 300 employees, including year-end and audits. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the administration of employee group benefits, pension plan, WSIB and the time and attendance system.
In this role you will prepare submissions and complete monthly reconciliations (including GL accounts) for source deductions and employee benefits, monitor departmental salary budgets, allocation of funds and prepare financial reports.
You will support the Senior Director, Finance and Facilities Administration with providing payroll and benefits related information as well as make recommendations to continually improve department processes and procedures.
In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation
3-5 years of payroll processing, compliance reporting and benefits administration
General accounting knowledge coupled with excellent analytical skills in processing information and performing reconciliations is an asset
Proven knowledge of payroll and employment legislation and regulations
Strong Microsoft Office skills required including: Excel and Outlook
Proficiency with Ultimate Software (Ultipro) Payroll and Time Management would be considered an asset
Excellent problem solving/judgement skills and high degree of attention to detail, ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
Effective, clear and strong verbal and written communication skills
Maintains confidential work environment
A second language is preferred
A valid Canadian G Driver’s License, with a minimum of $1,000,000+ third party liability insurance, and reliable vehicle
A satisfactory Police Check
This position reports to, and is supervised, by the Senior Director, Finance and Facilities Administration.
Office work, travel between offices, when needed
Additional hours and/or weekends, maybe required
Ability to work at computer for extended periods of time
