Oversee all operational activities for RIG Logistics locations. Ensure that all operational activities are being monitored and adhered to at Calgary location. Develop, implement and execute the policies and process standards to create exceptional customer service while optimizing cost and ensuring safety standards are met. As a leader, ensure that “Safety First” is built into the culture of the organization.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Post secondary education in transportation or logistics preferred. A suitable level of practical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have at least 3-5 + years of operations experience (preferably with a transportation company) along with a degree from a recognized Canadian university.
- Experience leading a team of front line employees, managers, and supervisors
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to get things done through others and people development.
- Computer skills with MS Office products and web-based programs. Experience with TMW a definite asset

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the monitoring and execution of Rig Logistics Operations Policies & Procedures
- Monitor and guide all operations teams to ensure a high level of customer service is being met while managing overall cost efficiencies.
- Provide direction to direct reports. Hire, coach and mentor operation staff.
- Ensure all operations staff are trained with most current SOP’s and processes.
- Develop a team approach to identify efficiencies and process improvements.
People Management:
- Manage all Operations teams to ensure they are following established policies and procedures.
- Monitor KPI’s and SQI’s to ensure performance metrics are met. Work with team to identify shortfalls and monitor for improvements.
- Develop an audit process with key personnel to validate compliance regarding TMW, ELD, ISAAC, Driver Load acceptance and location monitoring,
Daily Requirements:
- Ensure Operation have full coverage of planners & dispatch. Create schedules.
- Ensure planning and dispatch have covered off all loads. TMW complete, drivers assigned and dispatched.
- Create daily reporting to provide status of previous day’s operation and end of day report on any watch outs for the evening operations.
Weekly Requirements:
- Provide reporting on key operational metrics to ensure on time performance, TMW, ELD compliance and proper cost controls are in place.
- Attend key meetings for customers to ensure any issues are being addressed.
- Review driver-recruiting needs and provide a complete list of requirements.
- Develop operations managers to be part of the recruiting process
Monthly Requirements:
- Review future scheduling, planning and dispatch schedules are in place to manage volume influx.
- Pre plan for winter readiness, seasonal or holiday impacts from our core customer base.
- Develop action plans to address areas of concerns coming from reports. Empty miles, cost concerns, etc.
In-person or phone communications:
- With employees/drivers providing guidance on operational and compliance issues.
- Check-in’s with all operational employees to ensure they have the tools to do their jobs effectively.
On-Call 24/7
- Provide guidance to employees and drivers in reference to customer service
- Monitor emails for issues and ensure your operations team is addressing it quickly and efficiently.
- Develop an on call process with planners and dispatcher to monitor emails and phone calls during the weekend and after hours. Ensure escalation process is communicated to all staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned
