This summer opportunity will begin May 4, 2020 and end August 29, 2020.

Great Library, Great City, Great Opportunity! If you are outgoing, enthusiastic and have a passion for working with technology and people of all ages then the Edmonton Public Library has a summer position for you!

This summer position will plan and lead maker activities in the EPL Makerspace at Edmonton Public Library. Working primarily with children and teens, you will plan hands-on activities that are fun and support learning with specialized equipment and software in the EPL Makerspace. Some possibilities include 3D printing, book making, soft circuits, game design and digital media software, sound recording studios, green screen photography, small robotics and microcontrollers.

Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and present maker classes and events in the EPL Makerspace.
Assist with Summer Starts activities in the Stanley A. Milner Library and during community visits.
Document and provide feedback on maker classes and events delivered.
Provide excellent customer service in accordance with the Library’s community led service philosophy.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :
Completion of one year and enrolled in a related post-secondary program for 2020 (e.g. Library Studies, Education). NOTE: Must be a returning student in fall of 2020.
Ability to present classes and events that support learning and creativity with digital technologies.
Experience with and enthusiasm for a variety of creative technologies and software (including photo, video, or sound editing; sewing; robots; coding; videogame design; animation; etc.).
Experience working in customer service and previous library experience are assets.
Experience facilitating workshops in informal educational settings is an asset.

Pay Band:
$24.85 per hour
Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.

Note:

Satisfactory background screening is required for this position which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts.
This position is required to travel throughout Edmonton.
In-person interviews will be taking place on February 18-21, 2020.
