Your Contribution
The NAV CENTRE is seeking dynamic individuals to fill the role of Server in Cornwall, Ontario.

Overall Responsibilities:

To provide knowledgeable, personalized and safe food and beverage experiences to our guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for proper guest billing, and to take necessary action in correcting any mistakes.
  • Follows all proper opening and closing procedures and reports, to complete all duties necessary to open and conclude a shift.
  • Ensures equipment and tools are maintained at a high standard.
  • Understands and adheres to Sodexo/NAV CENTRE policies related to gratuities, as well as fire, hygiene and safety policies.
  • Understands and adheres to NAV/ SODEXO employee SOPs and the regulations within.
  • Works efficiently, responsibly and maturely as a team with all colleagues throughout the hotel.
  • Carries out any other reasonable duties assigned.
  • Accurately answers any recipe and production questions.
  • Follows the 12 steps of service.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum experience level is 2 years in a high paced, detailed demanding service position.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast pace, demanding, high stress environment where guests require full service, knowledge and detail.
  • Must be bilingual in French and English (other languages are an asset).
  • Must have experience serving wine, beer and liquor. This includes proper opening and service of wine and sparkling bottles.
  • Must have experience with fine dining menu items, flambé, wine pairing service, and dealing with allergies, intolerances and sensitivities.
  • Must have smart serve and a demonstrated ability to recognize the signs of intoxication.
  • Knowledge of food safety and physical safety practices within a food service environment. Able to demonstrate their knowledge for proper food handling and service within the principles of HACCP.
  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Administration an asset.

Skills/Aptitude:

  • Possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as a team.
  • Ability to go above and beyond for guests. Able to identify service opportunities for excellence and have the tools to deliver.
  • Uses tact and diplomacy in dealing with difficult situations and can defuse service issues.
  • Capable of denying alcohol to a guest in a tactful and professional manner.
