We provide patient and family centered care, with all team members working within the CoACT collaborative care model and the Addiction and Mental Health - Edmonton Zone Principles of Care. Reporting to the unit manager, the Registered Nurse - Registered Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for adults presenting with acute addictions and mental health concerns. The Registered Nurse - Registered Psychiatric Nurse will provide safe, effective, and stage-matched nursing care according to clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing care standards. The Registered Nurse - Registered Psychiatric Nurse works within a concurrent capable, recovery-oriented framework, within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and the Health Information Act. Experience working with the CoACT model of care is required. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Non-violent Crisis intervention training. 2 years’ recent experience in Adult Acute Addictions and Mental Health.
