We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated process engineer with an unconventional perspective and experience in developing water-treatment or extraction-related apparatus and processes. Reporting to the Technology Manager, the process specialist will work closely with our team of mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, physicists and chemists.

Summit Nanotech is a burgeoning start-up that is leveraging recent advances in nanotechnology to create and implement solutions for industrial processes. Our solutions will reduce emissions, eliminate environmental contaminants, and optimize inefficient processes to generate legitimately green energy storage solutions. Summit Nanotech has established industrial and academic relationships to develop optimal solutions based on cutting edge research in the nanotech field. Role and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the development and design of processes and systems for extracting lithium with site-specific requirements
  • Inform scale-up strategy from prototype to demonstration plant
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFDs), mass balances and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Size and specify mechanical equipment for prototype and commercial systems based on site-specific requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable customer engineering and safety standards, practices, procedures, plant documentation requirements, and methods of installations
  • Work closely with purchasing and manufacturing to establish, schedule and implement prototype and commercial projects

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering with 10+ years of overall experience and 5+ years of experience in water treatment related design and optimization
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and practices
  • Experience in process and system design and developing PFDs and P&IDs
  • Background in pipe/tube fabrication an asset
  • Self-motivated, proactive and flexible with potential to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Highly effective communication skills
  • Extensive and exceptional customer service practices
  • Must be comfortable in a team-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • High level technical skills and willingness to learn
  • Creative perspective and out-of-the-box thinker
