ARC Programs is now accepting applications for the position of Supported Connections Counsellor, for a new Supported Access Program based out of Penticton. The Program will work with children from birth to 19 and their families who are involved with Ministry child protection services, where there are concerns about a parent's ability and/or willingness to care for their child in a way that recognizes age-appropriate safety and security needs. The Supported Connections Counsellor will be responsible to provide therapeutic support and guidance during scheduled family access visitation in order to enhance parenting skills, address barriers to reunification, reduce risk of harm, and strengthen parental capacity to adequately care for their child. The Counsellor will utilize various interventions such as in the moment role modeling, parent coaching, conflict resolution, parent education, etc, to enhance parenting skills. In addition, the Counsellor will take on the role of coordinating and scheduling visits, liaison with Ministry staff, screening, intake meetings, and other related duties. The Supported Connections Counsellor will also support the supervised access services as needed, including providing provide transportation if needed. Candidates for this position will possess sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description. Ideally, candidates will have experience and training related to child development, parenting education, collaborative problem solving, attachment theory, conflict resolution, service coordination, and strong organization skills. The preferred qualifications for the position include; Child and Youth Care Degree, Social Work Degree, BA {Psych Major} and related experience. This is a 35 hour per week position, and will require flexible working hours, including, evenings and some weekends as needed.

Please be aware that the successful applicant will be eligible for a full benefit package {including dental plan, vision care coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage {such as massage, chiropractor coverage, etc} long-term disability plan, and RRSP contributions}. New employees are also eligible for 3 weeks paid vacation to start, along with paid sick days as needed. Wages for this position start at $23.50 per hour, and go up depending on qualifications and experience.
