Dawson Road Maintenance Ltd. efficiently maintains public local roads, main highways, and bridges in accordance to the specifications set out by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI). Utilizing highly trained personnel, innovative technologies and products, a diverse fleet of specialized maintenance equipment, and real time weather forecasting; Dawson Road Maintenance works hard to continuously apply maintenance where and when it is needed. We provide these services to ensure British Columbians are safely connected, every day.

In this role you will be a valued member at Dawson Road Maintenance, working as a permanent, full-time unionized Operations Coordinator, reporting the Manager, Operations. This role provides guidance in the daily operations of office staff and field personnel, providing instruction and direction relating to works planned and performed, as well as ordering product and tracking supply. Your base location will be Fort St. John, BC.


  • Prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
  • Provide support to the Manager, Operations, Quality Manager, Superintendent, Roads, Road Foreman and Crew
  • Provide backup support for payroll, and reception/office administrator when required
  • Manage requisitions, material usage reports, and materials inventory system
  • Track and process work contracts (MoTi H200’s)
  • Keep a filing system for all operational correspondence relating to road and bridge maintenance, sub-contractors, hired equipment, suppliers and MoTi correspondence
  • Update detailed records and build various reports, information files and balance sheets
  • Research and advise management on ideas for improved practices
  • Communicate, improve and adhere to safety policies in all work environment areas
  • Processing of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and keeping a balance Petty Cash Fund


  • Post Secondary Diploma in Administration, Office Management, Accounting or a similar field
  • Five (5) years of office experience
  • Three (3) years of operations work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Continuously updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
