The Adult Acute Services units of the Edmonton Zone Addiction and Mental Health Programs located at the Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Royal Alexandra Hospital and University of Alberta Hospital sites, are dynamic, patient and family centered inpatient units where all members of the team work within the collaborative care (CoACT) framework according to the program’s Principles of Care. Reporting to the Relief Team Program Manager with the Staffing Service Center, and under the direction of a Unit Manager or designate, the Unit Clerk plays a key role in helping to foster an integrated team approach on the units by facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, department, patients and families and in maintain confidentiality of patient information. In addition, this role will co-ordinate daily activities during the shift in accordance with the workload setting priorities and ensuring the completion of assigned tasks.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Computer expertise with Window NT, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word an asset. Experience working as a unit clerk in a hospital setting preferred. Ability to perform patient related Unit Clerk duties preferred.
