As IT Infrastructures and Systems Operation Senior Advisor, you will actively monitor opportunities offered by new technologies and business approaches for the organization as a whole. You will design solutions to meet the business needs of large-scale projects or programs that leverage architecture and foundation targets.
You will take on, from a Desjardins Group perspective, a leadership and influencer role when interacting with business partners and specialists on solution or business architecture for strategic, complex and innovative initiatives. The nature of the files will require extensive and in-depth expertise in several technology and/or business fields, covering aspects pertaining to data, applications and infrastructures.
You will make recommendations regarding solution or business architecture, and produce deliverables pertaining to your field as part of files or projects that have a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. These will require analysis and an overall, in-depth understanding of the business and the organization. Coordination will be critical. You will be called upon to interact with a very large number of stakeholders in a variety of fields of expertise. As such, you will need highly developed interpersonal skills.
You will serve as expert advisor and subject matter expert, as well as a resource person and coach for senior management and decision-making bodies.
Oversight and technology monitoring of Data Centres
Coordinate with the Data Centre operator to ensure sound management of the centres in accordance with Desjardins orientations and industry best practices. This will include, among other responsibilities:
Ensuring the efficiency of Data Centre operating parameters (e.g., air conditioning, regular testing of generating units, alert monitoring) and managing equipment (e.g., network switches, connections and physical management of machines).
Respecting Data Centre security (e.g., entries and intrusions, management of videosurveillance) in line with Desjardins security orientations and requirements.
Ensuring the compliance of installations carried out and ensuring the sustainability of the Data Centre’s infrastructure and equipment.
Ensuring efficient operational management of the floor space.
Ensuring the sound management and use of the Data Centre consumable inventory (e.g., wiring; bays; power bars).
Establish and maintain the 24-to-36-month estimated capacity plan for the Data Centres as well as promote and raise awareness about it among key Data Centre clients and operators.
Coordinate and oversee the Data Centre operations teams regarding Data Centre architecture targets.
Manage the Data Centre equipment purchasing process.
Verify and approve requests for temporary or permanent Data Centre access.
Oversee Data Centre budget management and planning.
Conduct regular on-site audits of installations carried out at Data Centres.
Monitor on an ongoing basis the upgrade and improvement needs in the Data Centres and make recommendations to the service owner.
Represent the Data Centre service owner at the bargaining tables and support Desjardins stakeholders in drafting the technical component of calls for tender affecting Data Centres.
Monitor technological developments in the Data Centres and carry out ongoing coordination with solution and enterprise architects regarding orientations and targets impacting the centres.
Maintain room plans, wiring plans and frameworks for all IT equipment and related logistical infrastructure.
Advice and support for Data Centre clients/users
Carry out ongoing coordination with key Data Centre clients/consumers so as to identify initiatives and issues.
Support and advise IT project and operations teams in defining Data Centre infrastructure needs (e.g., wiring, bays, power) and wiring plans.
Support the Business Continuity teams during back-up tests in the Data Centres.
Oversee documentation/updates/maintenance/promotion of the Data Centre’s document site.
Handle claims and escalated client issues impacting the Data Centres

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
At least eight years of relevant experience, including a minimum of five years in an equivalent position
Experience in capacity planning and architecture for Data Centres
Experience in project and logistics management for Data Centres
Experience in Data Centre energy engineering, cooling and facilities

Data Centre and ITIL certification (assets)

In-depth knowledge of Data Centre technology, including Data Centre operations software, hook-up and wiring techniques, air conditioning and electric supply
Sound technical knowledge: Telecommunications (POD, H-Frame, network, fibre), mainframe (z/OS, HPNS), midrange (Unix, Wintel), storage (Pure, flash, HP) and back-up systems
Sound knowledge of physical and IT security
Knowledge of Data Centre energy engineering, cooling and facilities
Knowledge of and ability to adapt to technological changes and ability to assimilate new trends in the IT market
Advanced proficiency in French and English
