We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Elmira. It is a full-time permanent hourly role.

The standard hours of operation for this position are Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We offer benefits after 3 months of employment and DCPP pension after 6 months of employment. We have an on-site gym and free coffee.

$18 to $20 per hour depending on experience.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for direct examination of incoming, in process, or final product to ensure that quality standards are aligned with existing specifications, procedures or requirements. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, as the Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality assurance policies and identifying defects and or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain.

  • Analyze blueprints, engineering drawings, product and process specifications safeguarding the quality of all product across manufacturing operations
  • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections
  • Provide immediate feedback concerning products deviations
  • Assist with non-conforming product processing (defective returns, RMA, nonconforming material tags, communication with suppliers, etc.).
  • Daily duties with regards to the Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring quality assurance standards
  • Track and ensure completion of quality system audits, work instructions, work documents, records, and reports
  • Work with Engineering to develop manufacturing procedures, carry out work study (standardized work procedures and cycle times) collect and analyze data and samples, assist in preparing estimates, schedules, specifications and reports
  • Train production employees on Critical-To-Quality (CTQ) process and support production with any manufacturing assembly issues
  • Perform internal Audits and maintain up-to-date internal reports, document control and control of records
  • Perform first-off and engineering new sample approval checks
  • Support engineering processes development, PFMEA and Control Plans, machines and equipment specifications required to support new & existing programs
  • Support Continual Improvement and Risk Assessment activities
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis, corrective and preventive action (CAR/8D)
  • Maintain calibrations of all gauges, testers, etc.
  • Support Continual Improvement and Risk Assessment activities
  • Consistently ensure that business is conducted with integrity at all times and that behaviour aligns with our Emerson Values and 12 Lifesaving Safety Behaviours
  • Operate within the guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and follow the company philosophy of 12 Lifesaving Safety Behaviours
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Technical diploma or degree in the field of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Min 3-5 years QA/QC recent working experience in the role, in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience of quality management requirements, working with production design engineering, and suppliers to provide components and assemblies that meet or exceed specified QMS requirements
  • Preferred designations: CQE, CQM, ASQC accreditation, IS09001 training, 6 Sigma, SPC, process control methodologies
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints, bills of materials, and GD&T combined with quality assurance and control experience
  • Hands on experience with measuring tools and testing equipment
  • In depth knowledge of component design, fabrication methods, manufacturing, assembly and ISO9001
  • Strong computer skills, including: MS Office 365 suite, AutoCAD, SharePoint, Oracle (ERP)
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required to relate effectively with people both internally and externally
  • Must promote and work well in a team environment
  • Able to complete work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Excellent abilities to work in a fast-paced, multitask, and deadline driven environment, detail orientated, and good troubleshooting skills are critical to success.
  • Must be self-directed with good organization skills, ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate work with minimum supervision and guidance
  • In a changing business environment, other duties may be assigned and become part of the job responsibility
