Short Description

The Region Fleet Manager will support all of Canada to improve asset performance by optimizing fleet utilization, portfolio mix and profitability. The Region Fleet Manager will work with the Canada RVP, District Managers, Branch Managers collaborating with the Fleet Planning & Operations team in the Field Support Centre within the U.S. to develop and execute a fleet strategy to meet key objectives.


Overall fleet responsibility

Cradle-to-grave Fleet Management responsibility for Canada

Responsible for Canada's fleet plan and balancing adds, disposals and forecasting

Responsible for overall fleet optimization and decisions based on key fleet metrics (ROI, time Ute, $ Ute) purchase; transfer; re-rent: rental split; forego opportunity

Interact with procurement organization

Maintain relationships with OEMS

Specification expertise for key equipment categories and suppliers

Timely review of all fleet requisitions for completion and ensure need for new fleet

Oversight of Service Fleet (delivery vehicles) for proper utilization

Assist and lead special projects as directed

Intense management of slow rent report

Lost rent management - trending, tracking and movement of fleet throughout Regions/Division to eliminate un-needed purchases and transfers

Seasonal fleet planning - snow removal, refineries, plan turnarounds

Monthly review of utilization of reports with GM and Ops Managers

Real-time visibility with Fleet deliveries to streamline logistics of timing and proactive rentals

Optimize needs for Fleet transfers within and across Canada

Monthly review of Return On Investment (ROI) reporting, identify root cause of underperforming assets (rate, time Ute, condition, etc) and suggest corrective action

Deadline analysis - work with Region Maintenance Managers and to provide heightened visibility to analyze trends, major failures, etc. and execute strategy

Re-rent management - weekly analysis of profit margins; reduce underperformance; re-negotiate with vendors

Manager rental split transactions for early conversions/extensions

Optimize remarketing channel mix - retail, export, whilesale, MFS, auction

Estabilish prioritization for targeted fleet to sell (retail, "hot deals", wholesale, auction)

Approval authority for used equipment sales < tier 3 pricing

Support of Reg Tag opportunities

Demonstrated Leadership qualities and comfortable communicating at a Director/VP level
Highly developed analytical abilities to draw conclusions and recommendations from data sets
Operations understanding of maintenance, service and repair environments
Advanced "super-user" Excel skills
Possesses the ability to craft and articulate information through presentations (PPT) when necessary
Ability to work constructively under pressure

Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with superb analytical skills.
Solid business acumen and general knowledge around theory and practice of fleet management, fleet operations, finance, accounting, IT and organizational behavior is preferred
Safety Awareness: Understands, follows, and motivates individuals to follow the safety rules and regulations
Professional Experience
Comfortable within a fast-paced change "change management" environment
A minimum of 2 years of progressive operational management experience in the equipment rental or related industry
Ability to identify new used equipment sales opportunities
Broad rental fleet knowledge including use of equipment
Experience in the used equipment market including retail, wholesale and auction channels
Educational Background
University or College degree, preferably specializing in statistics or alalysis
PMP designation would be an asset
Conditions of Employment

Strong fleet knowledge
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Equipment rental industry experience preferred
