The EDUCATION COORDINATOR is responsible for the Department of Medicine post-graduate trainees based at UHN and assisting in organizing the educational activities for the senior medical students (clinical clerks) at UHN. The principal responsibilities include processing all vacation requests for trainees rotating through a medicine rotation at UHN. The position requires frequent communication with Site Directors, Educational Coordinators, Clerkship Coordinators, staff physicians, post-graduate trainees and medical students, and the University of Toronto Department of Medicine Core Internal Medicine Program.
Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
Completion of a recognized medical or business post-secondary office administration diploma program, or recognized equivalent
Five (5) years of related office administration support experience
Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing, database and spreadsheet software experience
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Experience in a Microsoft Office environment
Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Very good verbal and written communications skills
Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
Ability to effectively handle confidential matters and materials
Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks
Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
