With close to 140 successful years in the industry, Krug is well recognized as a leader in the design & manufacture of high quality business and healthcare furniture. Currently we are seeking an innovative full-time Furniture Specification professional to join our team in Kitchener, ON.

Purpose of Position:

Under general supervisor, the Sr. Buyer is responsible for general and specialized ordering and procuring of material or business services for production. Develop commodity strategies, qualify vendors, initiate & evaluate quotations, work with vendors to solve performance and pricing issues. Develop and implement long term cost saving initiatives through purchasing and planning best practice. Maintain target inventory levels by applying advanced inventory control techniques thru constant evaluation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

o The planning, execution and timely receipt of purchased parts and to Krug quality standards.

o Frequent and detailed analysis of safety stock levels and Reorder points (ROP)

o Constantly focused on Cost reduction using any method that would reduce costs while maintaining quality, service and on-time delivery.

o Utilizes MRP technique to better define the EOQ. Minimize on hand inventory and increase inventory turns.

o Review on time delivery metric tools-reporting and establishing root cause and corrective action for closure of issues.

o Strategize buying options to secure best results for Krug.

o Reports on PPV and focuses on elimination of PPV.

o Reviews & Reports on Critical Supplier OTP and Quality rating each month.

o Strive to decrease lead-time from suppliers.

o Initiates RIN’s where required as per ISO policy.

o DMR management: disposition of defective material. Close DMR’s with root cause and corrective action and log on DMR Tracker.

o Proficient in offshore buying, Optimize in-bound freight costs. Reduce expedited shipment costs.

o Evaluates FPR’s and pursue corrective action and reimbursement of consequential costs from suppliers where applicable.

o Strive to eliminate or closely manage single-source situations – ensure back up supply for all suppliers.

o Lead and improve ECN process-to ensure we establish minimal obsolescence and ease of cut in to production and supporting cross functional departments.

o Strives to eliminate low-use parts. Make recommendation for discontinuation for low selling items Strategize obsolescence, disposition of obsolete material.

o Keeps abreast of market conditions and commodity pricing as it relates to purchased part costs.

o Constantly researches and investigates new sources of supply working to build a large base of qualified suppliers.

o Evaluate PFEP (plan for each part) to optimize packaging, MOQ, lot size, and dunnage while driving cost savings.

REQUIREMENTS:

o Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Materials Management and/or CPIM designation.

o 5-10 years purchasing/planning experience.

o MRPII training (in house or community college)

o Familiarity with cycle counts and inventory control best practices, ABC analysis and audits/fiscal inventory.

o Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet)

o Highly organized and analytical skills are required

o Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-packed environment. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
