Department Information

The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information

The Energy Division is a high-paced and politically high-profile work environment with numerous work commitments, with short-timelines, occurring concurrently that must be managed.

In this role, you will have significant influence on the overall direction of the GNWT on energy issues. You will also be responsible to support and coordinate interdepartmental and intergovernmental work of the Energy Division, providing coordination and response on matters of energy governance, including decision-making and knowledge brokerage work through Senior Management and Committees.

To succeed in this role, you need strong communication, coordination and organizational skills. Interest of the energy industry within and without the NWT, including non-renewable, conventional and non-conventional energy sources, would be considered an asset.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A relevant post-secondary degree program such as engineering or business with a minimum five (5) years' of experience in a planning and coordination capacity and experience in Energy project management.

Significant technical aptitude and comprehension is required.
