Custom Software Solutions Inc. (CSSI) develops and markets software products and services for Insurance Brokers, MGAs and Carriers in Canada, UK and the USA and is currently recruiting for a VP of Sales.

The VP of Sales is a top-level executive within the corporate structure at CSSI and is responsible for overseeing the sales team and makes a significant contribution to the profitability of the company. The VP of Sales requires excellent interpersonal and persuasive skills, organizational skills and the ability to travel.

Position Description:

The CSSI VP of Sales oversees daily sales activity, meets with major clients and industry partners, draws up sales reports, designs new and more effective sales strategies, and works in coordination with the Executive Team to market and promote company products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets with existing clients to discuss a company’s products and services.
  • Works to foster lasting relationships with client base.
  • Locates opportunities to expand client base including new markets or products.
  • Networks with prospective clients to persuade them to bring their business to the company.
  • Sets specific quarterly or annual sales goals and is responsible for achieving or exceeding goals.
  • Oversees the activity of Account Managers.
  • Draws up sales activity reports and reviews with Account Managers
  • Works to ensure sales and productivity goals are met.
  • Presents information regarding clients and sales at company meetings.
  • Devises new and innovative ways to sell products and services.
  • Attends national industry sales conferences both domestically and internationally.
  • Assists in designing marketing and promotional materials both in print and online.
  • Assists in research into target consumer base.
  • Leads in-house seminars, workshops and meetings to help improve the effectiveness and productivity of the sales team.
  • Leads weekly ops meetings with Department Heads
  • Monitors all projects that have gone through the sales team
  • Monitors the development of new modules
  • Leads the training and implementation team
  • Assists in managing 3rd party integrations
  • Is responsible for accounts receivable created by sales activity

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidate can close a sale and mentor sales team on how to close
  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of the company’s products and services.
  • Possesses knowledge of competitive products and markets.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to think creatively.
  • Exhibits awareness of best sales practices and methods.
  • Works well with a team.
  • Demonstrates patience with reluctant or frustrated clients.
  • Exhibits familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Possesses strong persuasive abilities.
  • Demonstrates solid motivational and leadership skills.
  • Maintains a professional but confident and outgoing demeanor.
  • Can conduct independent research.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

Candidates should have several years of experience in the sales and marketing sector and should be able to demonstrate a successful sales record. It is not a requirement but considered an asset if the VP of Sales holds, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, or Business.

Work Environment:

The VP of Sales spends most working hours in an office setting, either working independently or meeting with team members and the executive. The position can be based out of the head office in Virden, Manitoba, Canada or a home-based office depending on the candidate. National travel to meet clients and attend industry events is also required. The VP of Sales is a fast-paced position that carriers a large amount of responsibility and accountability.

Salary/How to Apply:

The salary is a combination of base plus commission and includes group benefits and is dependent on the candidate’s experience and success of the sales team.
