HOURS: ALL SHIFTS AS REQUIRED - 8 AND 12 HOUR SHIFTS AS REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
  • Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current B.C.L.S. Certificate required
  • Current Certificate in I.V. Therapy required
  • Coronary Care Course (min. 25 hrs.) and/or Lead II/12 Lead Interpretation Course (min. 25 hrs.) required
  • Recent 2 - 3 years Medical/Surgical experience required
  • Recent (within past 2-3 years) Critical Care experience (minimum 1 year) required
  • Current ACLS required
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification of added nursing skills and delegated medical acts specific to C.C.U. by the
end of orientation period:
  • cardioversion/defibrillation • application of external pacemaker
  • arterial line management • emergency drugs administration • ventilators
  • Demonstrated ability to assume Unit Leader role, prioritize patient care and participate in client/family teaching required
  • Ability to function both independently and as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team in caring for critically ill
patients in a total patient care climate required

  • Involved in continuing education on an annual basis and demonstrate commitment to quality improvement required
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Courses in: Critical Care Nursing; Coronary Care preferred
  • Computer application experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required (see note**) All unilingual candidates are encouraged to
apply and may be considered if there are no successful bilingual candidates

  • NOTE: A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
