Ovensa is a preclinical stage company committed to developing novel precision and combination medicine therapeutics through its proprietary TRIOZAN™ Platform. The company is pursuing to overcome inherent therapeutic performance and resistance challenges in complex diseases involving various drug classes including immuno-oncology, RNA and CNS based therapeutics.

The company focuses on advancing 1) its lead nanotherapeutic candidate to modulate better immuno-oncology therapeutic outcomes in various cancers including glioblastoma as a first indication and; 2) its collaboration programs with pharmaceutical companies for applications in several areas including CNS, vaccines, and immuno-oncology.

Job Description

Ovensa is seeking a highly self-motivated and goal-oriented Product Development Scientist with extensive experience in polymer chemistry and nanoparticle formulation to join our team in Laval (Quebec). Reporting to the Director of Product Development, the incumbent will be responsible for developing TRIOZAN™ polymeric conjugates and targeted TRIOZAN™ nanoparticle formulations. This will include to proceed with proper characterization of the formulations and to assess the formulations’ performance in vitro. Additional duties and responsibilities may be required as needed. The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative, resourceful and effective team-player who tackle challenging complex scientific and technical problems using novel approaches and solutions.

Experience and Requirements

  • Ph. D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field.
  • Extensive hands-on experience across nanoparticle/nanomedicine development, drug delivery systems, and polymer formulation sciences including novel polymeric conjugate synthesis.
  • Strong laboratory skills in synthesis, modification, purification, biophysical characterization of polymers, nanoparticles, and encapsulated cargoes (small molecules and biologics).
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with biologics (e.g. peptide, protein, mAb and RNA/DNA delivery) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of applicable biology background for relevant therapeutic areas of immuno-oncology, vaccine, solid tumors and CNS disorders is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to meet timelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, French is an asset.
  • Detail oriented, self-organizing, self-directing, responsible, highly motivated with strong critical thinking and analysis skills.
