TECHNATION (formerly The Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) is seeking a full-time Senior Program Coordinator in Regina, Saskatchewan or Calgary, Alberta, to support Career Ready Program development and administration.


This is a Fixed Term position:
Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start Date: September 2020 (flexible)
End date: Spring 2022
Work location: Remote - based in Regina or Calgary (some travel may be required when it becomes safe again)
Reporting to Senior Program Manager, Career Ready

Please note: Currently all TECHNATION employees are working from their homes remotely with no end date yet defined. This position will be located in Regina, Saskatchewan or Calgary, Alberta.

About the Role

As a Senior Program Coordinator (Prairies), you will coordinate the day-to-day development and administration of the Career Ready Program and are integral to maximizing employer and student participation. The daily work activity is a combination of outreach activities to engage employers, establish and fund Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities (usually coop placements), as well as the processing and review of submitted applications. Our team also provides support and coaching to users of our web-based application portal, from beginning to end as needed. You will also play an important role in the program improvement process, ensuring we stay on the road to better.

We’re looking to expand our team to build presence in the Prairie Region. Your key responsibility would be to steer and deliver our program outreach in the Prairies. You will provide business development leadership and support the team in business development projects. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience building meaningful relationships in the region, and may already have a relevant, established network through previous engagements.

About Career Ready

As part of the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP), our wage subsidy program supports businesses by financing their decision to hire a student for a work-term placement. This in turn creates a rewarding opportunity for the student to apply their learning in real-world settings and puts them on a path to a bright career. We also receive funding to deliver large scale labour market projects, such as data-driven insight tools and WIL events.

This program has been successfully operating for over 3 years and has made an incredible impact in the development of Canada’s future digital workforce.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Outreach (~60%)

Through self-driven, well-developed prospecting projects, grow awareness of the program – particularly in Prairie Region – and draw net new employers and partners to the program
Develop formalized partnerships with employers, post-secondaries, associations and other relevant groups
Advise on and support in the development and implementation of marketing projects
Provide coaching and leadership for other Program Coordinators to ensure outreach success
Use research, tools (CRM) and data-driven approaches to work effectively
Record and manage outreach activities; track and provide regular KPI reporting
Schedules and delivers events, webinars and workshops to deliver program information and updates
Ensure that work placements pipeline is of sufficient quantity, quality, diversity and experience level and are available students within their assigned discipline
Create partnership agreements with support from the Program Manager
Support Events Specialist in their delivery of Entrepreneurship Workshops and other relevant events

Program Administration (~40%)

Provide excellent support and advice to Career Ready applicants and post-secondary institutions
Maintain the application platform/database of employers and student placements
Assess and approve applications for funding based on program guidelines and policies
Collect and present data to inform future improvements to the program, i.e. experiences of stakeholders, key learnings, and recommendations
Compile and share employer experiences along with their endorsements and program testimonials
Gather data from the online application system for reporting purposes
Participate in and/or act as an ambassador at related events which take place nationally (some travel required; expenses covered by TECHNATION)

Other related duties as assigned.


Demonstrated experience building relationships with business communities (e.g. chambers of commerce, B2B, post-secondaries, etc.)
A completed post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline
A minimum of 3 years of progressive and related recent work experience
Proven marketing/relationship management/sales/communications skills
Experience with CRM systems (we recently introduced YM)
Good oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences including students, faculty, administration, employers and the community
Ability to develop promotional and presentation materials for stakeholders e.g. employers and community
Outstanding attention to accuracy and detail working cooperatively as a member of a team to meet unit goals and objectives
Excellent organizational skills including ability to multi-task
Good judgment and decision-making skills, strong initiative; punctual and reliable
Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), proficiency electronic mail and computerized scheduling

Other assets

English/French bilingual
Knowledge of the following: labour market trends, employability skills, job search and career development techniques and strategies would be an asset
Knowledge of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) / Co-operative education models
Advanced Excel skills
Demonstrated ability to utilize and manage a complex database or web platform
