Teck is currently accepting applications for the position of Pit Utility/Haul Truck Operators. Teck recruits proactively to build a talent pool for current and/or future opportunities.

Reporting to the Pit Supervisor, Pit Utility/Haul Truck Operators are responsible for safely operating various models of haul trucks transporting coal and/or rock at an open pit coal mine.

Responsibilities:
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Operate haul trucks ranging in size from 180 ton to 400 ton capacity on a 12 hour shift including night shifts
Work and operate outdoors in all weather condition including rain, fog, and winter conditions
Perform tasks that involve heavy lifting
Perform repetitive tasks daily including transporting coal or waste rock over short and/or long distances
Inspect equipment such as tires, fluids, lights, brakes, to ensure equipment is fully functional and safe for operating
Communicate with dispatch, other operators, and supervisors using communication devices such as two-way radio and on-board computers

Qualifications:
High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent
Valid driver’s license without learner’s restrictions (for example British Columbia class 7)
Previous heavy equipment operation or industrial experience is considered an asset
Successful candidates will be provided with extensive internal training
Computer literacy is considered an asset
