Overview

The Operations Superintendent's prime objective is to develop and implement processes to improve plant efficiencies and minimize costs for both the Pipe and Precast divisions. Encourage the development of safety and preventative maintenance culture and to develop and maintain key relations with customers, employees and industry authorities.

Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations of the main plant located at 11th Street – Pipe & Precast
Project Management of plant improvement and capital projects.
Assist in the development, cost economic analysis, writing and submittal of CER’s
Ensure the operation meets the highest practical housekeeping standard.
Develop and implement process improvements that increase operational efficiency.
Continuous improvement to production costs.
Regular job site visits to ensure customer needs are met.
Maintain and develop key relationships and provide technical assistance to customers, industry officials, and City inspectors.
Actively participate in the industry to develop and implement best practices.
Coordinate ordering to maintain appropriate raw material levels.
Daily monitoring and corrective actions to ensure KPI targets are met
Conduct monthly lead hand meetings
Conduct weekly work group production meetings
Ensure and supervise daily production meetings.
Liase with QC team to ensure products are manufactured to industry standards
Evaluation and maintenance of concrete mix design for wet and dry cast products
Supervises the Plant Supervisors, Production Foreman, Maintenance Foreman
Coordinates with the Purchasing Coordinator, Sales Manager, Engineering and Sales Technologist, Design and Marketing Engineer.
Encourage and promote an open working relationship with all plant employees.
Ensure that progressive discipline is uniformly administered.

Plant Supervisor, Production and Maintenance Foreman, Quality Control Technician, Purchasing Coordinator, Sales Manager, Engineering and Sales Technologist, Design and Marketing Engineer.

Specific Accountabilities:
Safety Performance objective is “Zero”
Ensure the timely production of both Pipe and Precast products , which must also meet product specifications
Train, motivate and supervise plant supervisors and hourly employees

Dimensions:
30 employees in reporting structure
Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:
Technical diploma or ten (10) years related experience in an Operations capacity
Proven ability to manage and supervise a staff of 20+ employees

Knowledge & Skills:
Dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
Experience with and understanding of the construction industry
Must be a team player with excellent organizational skills
Multi-task, must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete data and under tight deadlines and pressure
Demonstrate strong analytical skills, research, problem solving and decision making
Excellent leadership skills - must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct and actionable feedback
Detail-oriented, thorough and accurate
