The GBM 1st Line AML Business Controls function is critical for GBM and a key part of the overall Bank’s effort for AML/ATF and Sanctions compliance. In collaboration with various stakeholders’ group within GBM and the bank, this role supports the effective design and execution of the program globally; ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are carried out in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. In addition, this role also supports high priority initiatives such as Risk Assessment, Issue Management, and regulatory response for the overall program.
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Supports program reporting, financial reporting and program management across multiple project initiatives to deliver on AML regulatory commitments. The program has tight deadlines and multiple dependencies. The project portfolio includes large strategic projects and smaller projects required to deliver on the AML Transformation Program.
Plans and executes specific GBM AML 1st Line projects as assigned by collaborating with cross functional teams in achieving the multiple objectives on timeline, cost and scope. Ensure transparency, stakeholder alignment, and sound project risk management.
Proactively addresses gaps, identify opportunities and leads changes for streamlining or automating end to end processes and controls to enhance the project and program delivery.
In addition to structured project management and execution ability, the incumbent must be able to thrive in a complex program and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in collaborating with the business, support groups, stakeholders, and senior management. These skills, along with the incumbent’s process improvement and change mindset, will allow the incumbent to effectively support the overall program management under intense pressure and high ambiguity.
Leads day-to-day project and program activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial services.
University degree in business, finance, engineering or other relevant field; MBA degree, PMP, Lean and Agile designation or experience is an asset.
Experience in enterprise level or large-scale compliance or other change program is preferred; AML knowledge and experience would be a benefit.
Knowledge in capital markets and wholesale banking products and operating model is strongly preferred.
Highly proficient Excel and PowerPoint skills with strong experience in developing executive level presentations.
Data and financial analysis experience is preferred.
Fast learner, strong analytical skills and critical thinking capabilities to frame and structure complex issues effectively and develop insights and recommendation.
Change agent with high energy, demonstrated strong ability to work under pressure, deal with ambiguities and uncertainties, and drive for result.
Strong communications, organizational, project management, and planning skills.
