Reporting to the Division Head of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (or delegate), the Data System Abstractor and Research Assistant will assist with data collection/management. Included are the Canadian Neonatal Network (CNN), Canadian Association of Pediatric Surgeons Database (CAPSNet), Canadian Preterm Birth Network (CPTBN) and Evidenced-based Practice for Improving Quality (EPIQ).
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Screen all NICU admissions to determine eligibility.
Abstract relevant clinical and administrative data from maternal and neonatal charts using MS Access.
Maintain accurate and complete data.
Ensure work time is managed effectively and efficiently.
Ensure privacy and confidentially of all processes, including data storage.
Participate in departmental and national working group committees, as requested.
Hours of Work
Graduate of approved Health Information Management Program or Health Profession preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft office (Access Word, Excel, Outlook) required
Training & experience in abstracting & coding Obstetrics, Neonatology & Gyanecology health records preferred
Knowledge of Medical terminology required
Knowledge of Meditech preferred
Meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work independently and within context of health care team
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task required
A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered
