The Pension and Benefits department is a specialist group within George Weston Limited (GWL) dedicated to managing the pension and benefits programs for the GWL Corporate Office and its operating businesses; Weston Foods Canada, Loblaw Companies Limited (LCL) and Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM).

The Pension & Benefits Analyst is responsible for the day to day administration of the employee benefits programs for the GWL, Choice Properties, Wittington companies, along with the Executive and VP populations across the organizations.

Administer all benefit and pension enrollments, terminations and life changes
Administer share purchase plan enrollments, suspensions, terminations
Process all employee promotions and transfers and ensure seamless transition within the organization
Respond to all day-to-day benefit inquiries from employees/colleagues
Prepare and deliver promotion, retirement and termination packages
Work closely with payroll departments to ensure employee benefit and pension accuracy within the system
Investigate and resolve payroll issues with management for various businesses
Experience/strong proficiency with Payroll on Ceridian, Workday or other payroll systems
Strong knowledge of Canadian Benefit and Pension plan administration and processes (death, STD, new enrollments, retirement)
Provide input for the existing policies and procedures
Conduct various payroll audits to ensure accuracy and quality control; work with auditors as required
Develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal client base, insurers, vendors and consultants
Understand employer HR issues as they relate to benefits
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities whenever possible

Minimum 5 years of experience processing group Pension & Benefits
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBs) or Actuarial Designation is an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees within various levels of the organization
Strong analytical & technical mindset
Ability to multi-task with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Reliable to adherence to privacy and confidentiality guidelines
Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
