Alcove’s mission is to operate residential recovery facilities for women who experience the co-occurring issues of addiction, mental health distress and a history of abuse.

The Addictions Case Worker implements and monitors individualized treatment plans developed for each Alcove client and provides support to promote healing, facilitate personal growth, and ultimately guide the clients as they successfully transition back into a productive and positive life within the community.

Client Focus:

  • Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals and employees to evaluate their psychological condition and plan and coordinate treatment
  • Provide individual, one on one counselling, and facilitate group therapy to assist them in dealing with abuse, addiction, and mental health distress and support their recovery
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals, and communicate with other members of treatment team as well regarding patient care
  • Modify treatment plans, update discharge safety plans monthly with according to changes in client status
  • Monitor closely and observe clients self-administering all medications following organizational procedures, ensuring that all documentation is completed as required
  • Collect urine samples to determine whether a patient is drug-free (drug and alcohol tests)
  • Refer patient, client, or family to community resources for housing or treatment to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness, following through to ensure service efficacy.
  • Counsel and aid family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting the client
  • Work with their clients in transition to develop an aftercare plan and transition into the community
  • Support assessment, intake and orientation into the facility
  • Provide support to, and interact positively with clients

Program delivery:

  • Ensure that program activities are effectively and efficiently delivered in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization
  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities
  • Facilitate group curriculum with clients
  • Operate program activities within the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the organization
  • Organize and participate in recreational and leisure activities * Assure the health and safety of all clients and employees
  • Closely monitor and supervise client activities
  • Account for all clients at strategic times such as curfew, bed checks, meal hours and fire drills
  • Intervene in client interactions to deescalate conflict and promote positive relations
  • Ensure an orientation is completed with all clients * Actively communicate with all members of the treatment team for effective service and risk management
  • Ensure that all forms and records established to document program activities are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Participate actively in all required shift change activities * Implement a consistent structure of daily activities including chores, meditation time, house meetings and bedtime
  • Ensure all database and statistics information is collected including case notes, discharge summaries, and client survey statistics and imputed for every client
  • Ensure that long-term goals and objectives set to achieve the successful outcome of the program are met
  • Participate in the development of new initiatives and evaluation initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization and maintain or improve quality
  • Responsible for on –call duties on a bi- weekly basis

Education/Certification Required:

  • University degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or other related Human Services field
  • 3-5 Years experience working in a clinical setting
  • Prior clinical experience providing individual and group therapy
  • Must have a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search and child Welfare Intervention Check (dated within 3 months)
  • CPR/First Aid

This position will require a rotational work schedule of days, evenings and weekends.
