Position: Finance Assistant
Status: Permanent Fulltime

Initially Assigned to: 147 McIntyre Street West
Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Finance Director, provides bookkeeping and clerical support for the Canadian Mental Health Association – North Bay and District Organization, programs, and sponsorships.
Education and training:
· Post Secondary education in a business program with a strong accounting background.
Requirements:
· A current clear CPIC
Experience:
· Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience working with bookkeeping including General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Payroll
Duties:
· Performs accounts payable and receivable and payroll duties for the Organization including all programs and sponsorships
· Prepares bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
· Prepares bi-weekly source deduction remittances from source documents.
· Prepares monthly pension and employee RRSP contribution remittances.
· Distributes all accounts payable invoices to departments and reconciles monthly statements.
· Collects all data, review, input and output, and file source documents.
· Prepares accounts receivable invoices as required
· Records all deposits and electronic transfers for all bank accounts on a weekly basis.
· Prepares monthly bank reconciliation for all bank accounts, (computerized and manual reconciliation as established by the accounting department).
· Maintains an organized filing system for all financial records (computerized and manual records).
· Documents donations received and forwards appropriate correspondence with receipt.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Working knowledge of computer software.
· Ability to work cooperatively and independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
· Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
· Proficiency in managing challenging behaviours.
· Excellent interpersonal/verbal/written communication skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality as per PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act)

Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
French Language Services Required: Bilingualism is an asset.
