Professional Student Services Personnel

The Upper Grand District School Board invites qualified applicants for this temporary part-time (14 hours per week) position. This position will start as soon as possible with an end date of June 28, 2020, with the possibility to extend beyond this date.

LOCATION(S): There is a great need in the Erin District High School and Dufferin County Elementary schools within the UGDSB jurisdiction but all school locations may require support from this position.

SALARY/VACATION:
Standard Grid: $54,921 to $86,309 per annum (based on a full-time 35-hour per week position)
Qualified Ph.D. Grid: $56,579 to $89,899 per annum (based on a full-time 35-hour per week position)
*Applicable vacation % pay will be attached to every pay cheque

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Psychology and Social Work, this position will work 2 days per week and assumes responsibility for providing consultation, brief mental health/psychological interventions and brief mental health assessments to secondary students, as well as working with community partners, families and providing support to the school staff. Other responsibilities include:

  • Providing consultation to the school team, brief intervention, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and coping skills groups and brief mental health screening assessments
  • Work collaboratively with students, the school team, families, special education support services and community agencies
  • Help facilitate referrals to the appropriate community-based mental health resources
  • Provide support to the school team when there is a need for a Violent Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) and Crisis Response

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, learning disabilities, developmental disorders, behavioural problems
  • Training and experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for individuals and groups is required
  • Candidates applying for the Mental Health Secondary Support position must be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
  • Experience working for a school board or in child and adolescent mental health is a definite asset
