RBC is in the process of changing how people think about and interact with the bank on a daily basis. No longer do we want to be transactional and episodic, but instead find interesting ways to be a part of everyone’s daily lives in some way. In order to achieve this, RBC Ventures will be thinking and acting like startups to find interesting new ideas that will be in many cases, completely unrelated to traditional banking products.
The Technology Risk Manager will be responsible in providing oversight, facilitation and guidance on how Ventures Technology IT risk is managed and identified to support RBC Ventures achieve its business goals while protecting RBC.
The mandate would also require the incumbent to support the education, training, communication of RBC risk processes and tooling for the team and managing relationship with various risk partners across Ventures, Digital and the Enterprise.
What will you do?
Provide oversight, driving, facilitation and guidance on Technology Risk
Work closely with the Risk Owner to move risks through the appropriate workflow and provide SME oversight on action plans for risk acceptance and closure
Work as the point of contact for Ventures Technology Leadership, Cyber Security and Digital Risk & Compliance for RBC tools such as IIPM and Archer and liaison with various risk partners including GRM and Operational Risk
Identify, articulate and actively consider the risk appetite and ensure it is in line with business strategies, priorities and RBC’s Enterprise risk appetite
Ensure appropriate governance policies, processes and key controls are in place, are operating effectively and appropriately assessed
Manage the Cloud Exception Process and other risk and compliance adherence and support operational risk activities and ensure they are effectively managed and addressed
Education, training and optimization
Educate and train the Ventures technology team on RBC process and risk management tools and standardize how we use RBC tooling (Archer, IIPM etc.) across the Ventures Platform
Proactively identify risk management and optimization initiatives
Reporting and communication
Develop comprehensive risk reporting, including risk profile relative to risk appetite, which is reviewed by technology partners, business segments and the senior management team as required
Track control functions such as audit items, security exemptions and proactively monitor and ensure risk management deadlines are met and issues are resolved
Facilitate communication across the Ventures Technology team for IT risk related items
What do you need to succeed?
5 to 7 years of related experience in supporting teams with focus on technology risk
University Degree in Business Management or equivalent experience
Technology Risk background
Experience with RBC Tools (or equivalent) Archer and IIPM
Understanding of other types of risk – business risk, market risk etc.
Understanding of agile software delivery, cloud technology and DevOps Security Operations
