As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Perioperative Nursing course or equivalent experience required. Minimum 2 years PARR experience required. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgement. Demonstrated communication skills promoting respect and team spirit. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position including patient transfers, physically holding a limb for surgical prep, and caring for patients with unpredictable behaviour as they awaken from anesthesia. Ability to wear a lead apron protection for an extended period of time.
Current CNA Perioperative Nursing certification preferred. Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Operating Room in both the scrub and circulating roles is desirable. Rural OR experience is an asset. Preference will be given to those candidates with orthopaedic, general surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, plastics and urology experience. IV Direct medication administration competency as asset. Extubation competency an asset.
