The Risk Management Branch and Government Security Office is accountable for managing the risk to which the provincial public sector is exposed by virtue of its assets, programs and operations, and includes responsibility for loss control, risk financing, identification and transfer, and risk management consulting and advising. The Branch has four major roles: program development and delivery, central agency authority (oversight) including policy development, claims, litigation management, and consulting and advisory services. The Provincial Treasury Information Systems Branch provides Information Management/Information Technology solutions, advice and support to meet the Risk Management Branch’s diverse needs and complex interactive business processes, involving two-way data linkages to numerous external organizations both public and private as well as other ministries.

The Programmer Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and programming support for the development, maintenance and enhancement of business applications for clients of Information Systems Branch (ISB). This includes providing expert technical skills and specific in-depth knowledge of technology, applied to ongoing operations of Information Systems (IS) and Information Management (IM) applications and a variety of associated projects.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Bachelor’s degree in a computing technology field and 3 or more years related experience in a computing technology field;
OR Diploma in related field with 5 years of related work experience in a computing technology field;
OR Certification in related field with 6 years of related work experience in a computing technology field;
OR Grade 12 graduation or GED equivalent plus 7 years of related work experience in a computing technology field;
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience in supporting a multi-tier architecture and web based applications in a corporate production environment.
Experience working in small to medium-sized teams (5 to 20 people) on complex applications, with different combinations of team members and roles.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following technical experience:

Experience configuring and supporting Tomcat, and Apache or IIS web servers.
Experience with VB .NET, Perl, Java or JavaScript.
Experience with PL/SQL, or Oracle Database and SQL.
Experience with Web technologies including HTML5 or ASP/JSP.
Experience on Windows and UNIX servers, networking and authentication services.
Experience developing and documenting technical specifications, designing and maintaining data models within an enterprise architecture.
