Dean, Behavioural Sciences– Yorkville University
Yorkville University is seeking an experienced academic leader with an earned doctorate to undertake the role of Dean, Behavioural Sciences.
This role will be located at its campus in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
The Dean provides leadership for planning, quality assurance, and academic operations, particularly with respect to policies and procedures relating program and curriculum development, delivery, and quality assurance and faculty recruitment, development, and performance.
The Dean ensures effective communications and follow-up within the Faculty and University committee structure.
The Dean develops and maintains professional and academic connections to ensure programs are at the forefront of the Counselling/Psychotherapy industry and profession.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in the development and regulatory cycle of proposals for new programs.
Ensure the department and programs have high visibility and profile, by developing and maintaining strong professional and academic connections, including national associations and provincial regulators.
Support the Director of Field Training to build and develop outreach to develop practicum sites and other opportunities for graduates.
Take a leadership role in the preparation for periodic institutional and program reviews, both internal and those conducted by the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission.
Lead and facilitate curriculum planning and development; develop and present strategies and practices to improve instruction and student satisfaction.
Lead, develop and motivate members of Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, including Associate Dean, Field Training and Core Faculty
Ensure effective program governance, management, and quality assurance according to Yorkville University policies and best practices; ensure that required Faculty Committees are staffed and operational.
Maintain files and records related to program and curriculum planning and development, including new program proposals and program reviews
Chair of Faculty Hiring committee; ensure that new faculty members are effectively oriented to University policies, program goals, course objectives and pedagogy as well as the LMS.
Oversee faculty scheduling and the annual faculty performance review process
Develop and present strategies and practices for effective recruitment, development, and review of faculty members.
Member of various Faculty and University academic and operational committees
Earned doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Psychology or a closely related field
Academic and professional experience commensurate with a position as a leader and senior academic administrator
Practical experience as a counsellor
Relevant experience in a post secondary education environment, including program development, program accreditation, regulatory affairs, quality assurance practices, student and faculty policies
A visionary leader, with strong strategic planning abilities.
A strong commitment to post-secondary professional education, particularly for working adult learners
Understanding of and experience in online teaching and learning at the university level
A record of academic and/or professional accomplishment
Knowledgeable and experienced in the administration of university policies, procedures and regulatory affairs.
Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in writing and orally
Understanding of and commitment to collegial academic governance and management
Connected to professional and academic organizations and initiatives to define the counselling psychology profession in Canada
