Unit Summary

The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) and Clinical Resource Team (CRT) operate within the Quality & Performance (Q&P) Portfolio, under the strategic leadership of the Director of the Clinical Resource Program. Clinical Managers support staff by providing day-to-day leadership and direction for the team. Clinical Education and Development Clinicians support the educational and developmental needs of the team. The NRT/CRT is an interdisciplinary team that play a vital role in the provision of staffing services across all Sites/Clinical Units at Hamilton Health Sciences. It is comprised of full-time, part-time and casual staff whose shifts are assigned to various clinical areas to meet appropriate staffing requirements. Resource team staff are deployed to needs based on patient acuity/census, replacement for sick time/vacation, and volume surges. Staff in the NRT/CRT are aligned to a cluster or multiple clusters (medical/surgical, pediatrics, women's health, and critical care) to support staffing needs throughout all HHS sites and alternative health facilities.

Position Summary

As a member of the Nursing Resource Team, the Registered Nurse will successfully complete a competency based orientation and master/maintain the applicable set of competencies in the clusters to which he/she will be aligned. The Registered Nurse will provide high quality nursing care to patients and families and will participate in continued education, identification of future clinical/career goals and complete learning plans to achieve those goals.
Nurses are aligned to a cluster or multiple clusters to support staffing needs throughout all HHS sites and Alternative Health Facilities (AHF).

Qualifications

1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Current BCLS certification
3. Demonstrated knowledge of the current nursing assessment and management of patients
4. Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary care and a nursing professional practice model
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing care plan
6. Demonstrated ability to utilize problem-solving and critical-thinking techniques
7. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
8. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
9. Ability and willingness to work in different environments
10. Candidates interested in Critical Care (in addition to the qualifications above)
11. Critical Care Certificate preferred
12. ACLS/ATLS preferred
13. Recent experience in ECG interpretations, pressure monitoring, airway management and mechanical ventilators
14. Candidates interested in Emergency (in addition to the qualifications above)
15. Certification for Emergency Nursing preferred
16. PALS, TNCC, ENPC preferred
