REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELOR
Part-Time or Full-time depending on experience
PROGRAMS: Occupational Rehab 2 and ASTD Programs
Under the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Manager, the Clinical Counsellor is responsible for individual psychological treatment/counselling sessions and the delivery of other services (e.g., education classes and relaxation training groups) within the context of the Occupational Rehab 2 and ASTD Programs.
STANDARDS OF PRACTICE
All Clinical Counsellors comply with the ethical and professional standards as outlined by their Association (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors). Clinical Counsellors also comply with Back in Motion's Code of Ethical Conduct.
Provides education classes on a variety of subjects relevant to trauma recovery (e.g., overview of traumatic stress reactions, trauma treatment, mood management);
Provides relaxation training groups;
Provides short-term, one-to-one treatment to Occupational Rehab 2 and ASTD Programs clients; this includes the provision of empirically validated psychological treatment (such as Cognitive Behavioural Treatment);
Provides time-limited, empirically validated psychological treatment (such as Cognitive Behavioural Treatment) with Psychological Treatment Services for clients with a range of presenting problems/diagnoses;
Provides psychological treatment within a rehabilitation context and be able to maintain a focus on successful and durable return to work;
Maintains treatment goals that are realistic in the context of the program and program length;
Completes intake, progress, and discharge reports in a timely manner and as specified in agreements laid out with customer;
Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and other records;
Works effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment; communicate and consult with team members as appropriate;
Communicates effectively and professionally, as appropriate, with the referral source/customer;
Demonstrates solid clinical judgment;
Provides crisis intervention as required;
Adheres to Back In Motion policies/procedures/practices, as well as standards of service;
Reviews contracts and ensures adherence to contractual obligations/responsibilities.
Excellent knowledge of the practice of counselling in a rehabilitation environment.
M.A. in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
Memberships & Associations:
Master's Degree in Psychology: Registered or eligible for registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors
