Rocky Mountain House has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide in Home Care! Located within the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre, you will work with a dynamic, supportive team and will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in your community. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is responsible for providing personal care and support to clients served by the home care program. Work is assigned according to an established plan of care, in collaboration with the client, family and members of the interdisciplinary team. The HCA is supervised by a regulated health professional and may perform assigned restricted activities under specific circumstances. Key responsibilities of this role include adherence to care plan as established; regularly communicate with regulated health professional on client status, care delivery, observations and feedback; documentation of pertinent information and care provided; and participation in education and local home care office initiatives. The HCA must have the following qualities to be successful in this role: strong interpersonal communication and interdisciplinary team player skills; excellent creativity, resourcefulness, time management and organization abilities; Knowledge of the continuing care sector and various levels of care; and the ability to monitor financial accountabilities.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

- As a condition of employment at AHS, you must be enrolled in the Government of Alberta-Health Care Aide Directory and provide evidence of your enrollment at time of hire and annually thereafter. For more information on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory, please visit: www.albertahcadirectory.com. - In addition, you must meet one of the following Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirement and provide evidence at time of hire: a) Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or b) Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or c) Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool.
Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel. This position requires a vehicle for business use. Familiarity with computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Lync/Skype for Business. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability to the home care program.
At least 3 years of recent (within the last 5 years) experience in health care field with preference given to care for older or chronically ill clients in the community setting. Medication Assistance Certification or experience providing medication assistance. Flexible in scheduling work activities. Experience working with mechanical lifts and safe transfer methods. Great communication.
