The incumbent will report to the Chief Automation Engineer. This employment opportunity is intended to be a 4-month term (September 2020 - December 2020), with the possibility of a 4-month term extension (January 2021 - April 2021).
This temporary employment opportunity is part of Nutrien’s Aboriginal Internship Program. It is intended to introduce a voluntary self-identified Aboriginal student or recent graduate to professional work experiences at Nutrien.
What you will do:
Assist with design, prototyping, and commissioning of automated machinery and processes
Assist with project reporting, risk identification, scheduling and execution
Work closely with other site teams, and be actively involved in a wide range of engineering support and design functions
Review advances in industry and technology to evaluate possible new solutions and applications
What you will bring:
Completed a minimum of two years in an Electrical Engineering program
Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and prior knowledge or exposure to Rockwell RSLogix5000 or other PLC programming environments would be an asset
Experience working in a mining or industrial environment is preferred
Superior interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills are essential
Positive safety behavior and safety leadership
Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently
Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
