This role is an exciting opportunity for a passionate communicator and content marketer who is looking to take the next step in their Marketing and Communications career. The successful candidate will develop marketing and communication plans for Group Retirement Services (GRS) products and service offerings, with a focus on creating strategies and delivering communications that support the business goals and objectives and drive results.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications this Bilingual Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist provides strategic communications and marketing consulting. You will support the research, writing, and timely delivery of Sun Life GRS projects and initiatives targeting client-facing staff, plan sponsors, plan members, plan advisors, and consultants.
What will you do?
Create strategic marketing and communication plans across all audiences that assists with the delivery of GRS project requirements and initiatives.
Develop, project manage and support the execution of communication tactics for assigned projects with a client first mindset.
Execute marketing campaigns that will drive action and achieve business goals.
Manage the development and maintenance of client-facing content, including some conference materials, presentation templates, marketing collateral, ads and digital properties.
Oversee, write and edit content for communication channels, while understanding that not all audiences are alike and may require different messages.
Develop strong relationships with internal key stakeholders across Sun Life to collaborate and drive successful campaigns that deliver results.
Leverage new and existing media communication channels and incorporate them into marketing and communications plans alongside more traditional techniques.
Familiar with plain language writing tone and style.
What do you need to succeed?
Post-secondary education in English and/or French, Journalism, Marketing Communications and/or relevant experience
A minimum of 3-5 years experience in copywriting, business writing or content marketing
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement communication and marketing plans (from assessing needs to formulating strategy, implementing tactics, developing budgets and measuring results)
Strong writing, editing and production skills
Ability to adapt the style, tone and complexity of writing to suit a variety of formats and audiences
Strong project, time management and organizational skills – ability to manage multiple priorities and multi-task
Results oriented and resourceful with strong analytical skills
Data driven and able to use and interpret data analytics to deliver and improve marketing campaigns
Ability to work within tight deadlines with competing priorities
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Knowledgeable about new media communication tools, social media, web publishing and InDesign tools
A writing assignment will be required as part of the interview process

This team is agile, as such you could be based in either the Toronto, Montreal or Waterloo office.
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
