Your Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Health Information Management Team Lead, this Administrative Support III - Switchboard Operator position is responsible for telecommunication functions that support patients, the public and staff accesses to services throughout Alberta Health Services. The switchboard team offers this service using various technologies including a computerized multiline call system and nurse call responder. The successful incumbent is responsible for announcements of hospital emergency codes and connecting of on call physicians, providers and general inquiries. This fast paced opportunity is looking for an incumbent who is able to exercise good judgement and initiative and able to work with a high degree of independence, confidentiality and accuracy. The incumbent will work statutory days as well.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Keyboarding of 40 wpm corrected for errors (test will be administered). Experience with multi-line switchboard required. Medical Terminology required (test will be administered). Must possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to maintain poise under pressure and ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment. Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive manner. Must have a proven record of maintaining privacy with sensitive information and situations. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively using the English language.

Preferred Qualifications:
Medical office assistant or unit clerk experience is preferred.
