Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Administrative Program Assistant to join the Indigenous Cultural Safety team with Aboriginal Health in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As an Administrative Program Assistant with VCH you will:
Provide culturally appropriate support for Aboriginal peoples, to ensure respect, diplomacy and tact.
Perform a variety of administrative and secretarial support functions for the Indigenous Cultural Safety Strategic Lead, Operations Manager and designated program team members.

Perform duties including:
screening incoming materials,
drafting correspondence,
typing a variety of technical and non-technical documents utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and graphic software,
maintaining database of accounts,
preparing cheque requisitions,
compiling reports on statistical information,
and organizing meetings and training sessions/events.

Education & Experience

Grade 12, graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate Program, plus three years’ recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Display broad knowledge of Aboriginal Healing Modalities and cultural practices.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Knowledge and proficiency in relevant software. (Word, Excel, graphic applications)
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems
Ability to Business writing skills
Ability to type at 40 wpm.
Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
Ability to do basic mathematical calculations
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
