Literacy Council York-Simcoe - Skills Upgrading Centre, is a small non-profit charitable organization with more than 35 years’ experience providing adults with the opportunity, tutoring, training, and tools to improve their reading, writing, numeracy, computer, and employability skills.
The Computer Lab Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the organization’s technology requirements and all computer-based training programs in order to help adults build skills for a better future.
Computer Training Program Coordination
Register, assess, and provide orientation and training for all participants enrolled in computer- based training
Actively monitor and encourage participants’ learning to ensure ongoing progress and provide guidance, support and community referrals as needed to help participants achieve their goals
Develop, maintain and manage systems and processes to accurately collect program and participant data for analysis and reporting to management and funders
Develop and prepare course materials, maintain lab supplies, work aids and software licenses for training, and implement new training programs and software.
Develop, maintain, and implement computer-based learning courses through Moodle and/or other Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Develop and conduct evaluation feedback surveys for curriculum delivery and analyze data, create reports and make recommendations for change
Respond promptly to all program inquires via website, social media and community agencies
Develop marketing materials, organize informational displays, deliver program presentations and network with local employment services, employers and social service agencies to identify local market trends, potential partnerships and training needs.
Coordinate with vendors to evaluate and negotiate purchases associated with new learning content.
Coordinate appropriate training and program tasks with program assistant and participate in team meetings, program development workshops and organizational events as well as complete other program related duties as required
Monitor, maintain and provide technical support for all administrative, program and mobile workstations, hardware, software applications and system networks
Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair and perform maintenance on all desktops, laptops, printers, audio and video equipment and other hardware and software for the entire organization.
Provide advanced support at the network level, including troubleshooting, problem resolution and maintenance tasks for connectivity, routers, servers, backups security updating and cloud computing.
Day-to-day network administration, including configuring, managing and, troubleshooting user access to network resources and learning software application platforms, coordinate with software vendors to ensure high availability uptime
Assist in developing policies and procedures related to the delivery of the computer lab programs and the IT office environment, and create and maintain accurate detailed technology procedure manuals.
Maintain and update IT asset inventory and MACD procurement as necessary
Research and recommend computer hardware and software acquisitions for the purpose of budget planning and program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills
Post-secondary diploma in Computer Systems Technology/technician, office information systems, administration, adult education related to computer training or education and experience in a related field
At least three years demonstrated experience working in an academic environment providing training support to adults and technical computing support
Excellent customer service, organizational, facilitation and presentation skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work independently and with a team, adapt to change, multi-task and meet timelines
Proficient in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data for reporting purposes and implementing program changes
Advanced understanding of operating systems, business applications, printing and network routing and server systems
Expertise in Microsoft Office suite
Able to configure, manage and maintain Windows Server 2012 R2, UBUNTU server, and Office 365 Administration including Exchange, SharePoint and Azure administration
Ethernet and Wi-Fi network experience and TCP/IP proficiency
Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, WSUS and Network Security
Working knowledge to be able to develop, maintain and implement learning programs using a Learning Management System (LMS) (Moodle)
Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required for some travel is necessary
