Marketing and Communications Specialist

We are currently recruiting for a creative, ambitious and team-oriented individual to join the firm. This is a new role to bring marketing support in-house and includes a variety of responsibilities that will engage a self-starter who likes when every day is unique!

As the Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the creation, planning and execution of marketing plans for lawyers, practice groups and the firm in support of business development and the firm’s brand awareness.

With your exceptional collaboration and organizational skills, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to achieve growth and retention objectives. This is a dynamic role for an individual who likes a diverse portfolio of responsibilities working with others and working independently, including marketing coordination, digital marketing and website management, public and community relations, internal and external client communications, social media, and client events planning.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and coordinate the logistics of marketing, advertising and promotional activities;
  • Assist Partners and Associates in efforts of generating new business opportunities;
  • Facilitate marketing plans for the firm, practice groups and personal marketing plans for Partners and Associates in support of the firm’s strategic direction;
  • Liaise and coordinate with external vendors to oversee brand consistency, message and fit within Harrison Pensa framework;
  • Maintain marketing calendar and detailed event lists to promote engagement throughout the firm;
  • Plan and develop annual marketing budget for the firm and conduct a cost-benefit analysis on marketing initiatives and activities;
  • Monitor industry trends and market conditions and keep abreast of new developments and approaches to the marketing of legal services;
  • Assess and respond to marketing opportunities and requests and make recommendations on effectively leveraging opportunities;
  • Actively engage and support community relations initiatives;
  • Lead project to redesign a new website for the firm;
  • Develop and maintain social engagement strategy to best leverage social media channels for business opportunities, brand building and awareness;
  • Monitor, track, generate reports and adjust Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) efforts;
  • Implement and manage a content management strategy at HP to provide thought leadership, raise firm/lawyer profile, and drive search engine optimization efforts;
  • Oversee and develop content on a daily and weekly basis for the firm website and social media platforms to increase engagement;
  • Develop and maintain engagement strategy for business opportunities, brand building and awareness;
  • Research, respond and participate in the development and submissions of Requests for Proposals (RFP’s);
  • Coordinate, support and lead the organization of certain client events and serve as firm ambassador and advocate;
  • Lead client engagement, retention and appreciation initiatives to promote the firm;
  • Other duties as required.

The successful candidate ideally has the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or advanced diploma in Marketing or related discipline;
  • 5 years of marketing experience in a mid-size organization;
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize and deliver creative solutions;
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce or oversee the development of marketing materials;
  • Highly proactive and engaging individual;
  • Community-oriented;
  • Dedicated to providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Team player with a positive, persuasive and professional attitude to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Organizational, attention to detail and time management skills;
  • Comfortable with multiple content management platforms and digital marketing tools;
  • Technical and artistic photography skills considered an asset;
  • Experience working in a professional services environment considered an asset.
