We have re-launched as an exciting, community oriented general merchandise retailer. In addition, we have recently launched our E-Commerce website. We sell clothing for the entire family, as well as hard-lines and consumables. We are currently looking for an IT Support Technician to join our dynamic, energetic team. Our successful candidate is tech savvy, a good communicator, and has strong organizational skills. Reporting to the Director, Operations and Loss Prevention, the successful candidate will be responsible for both day to day IT support tasks, network infrastructure, as well as asset and database management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job duties include but are not limited to the following:

Organize and manage all the needs of the IT Department.
Review and update all the IT related policies, procedures and systems.
Learning and implementing new software as per the needs of business.
Responsible for administration of company email systems, network setup, network connectivity, Microsoft Office support (Excel, Word, etc.), business intelligence and enterprise resource planning [ERP] platforms.
Provide all internal personnel (remote and at the office) with day-to-day technology support to ensure that technology-related problems do not interfere with their work.
Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests.
Work closely with the Asset Protection Manager and third party network administrator to ensure that company servers and networks meet or exceed established security requirements.
Work closely with our E-Commerce Department and provide support and manage the network infrastructure.
Maintain inventory of hardware and deploy/make changes as required.
Repairing and replacing equipment as necessary; may have to lift and carry heavy equipment.
Install, test, and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment, network devices and software.
Perform setup and take down of AV equipment for corporate presentations and internal events.
Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis to reduce instances of technical problems.
Responsible for hardware and software procurement and asset management (licenses, warranties, etc.).
Work with third party network administrator to plan, design, implement and maintain server configurations, routing protocols, network configurations and storage environments to facilitate the needs of the organization.
Configure server backups, monitor network use statistics and loads, and implement contingency plans to minimize network and system downtime.
Work with third party network administrator to maintain infrastructure (servers, storage, memory, etc.) related to company systems.
Responsible for database management and building system reports.
Support internal IT projects by assisting in configuration and testing systems.
Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
Qualified to associate level or equivalent in an IT discipline is essential.
Experience with firewalls, managed switches, VPNs, VLANs, etc.
A clear understanding of procurement contracts and vendor requirements.
Experience supporting Mobile handheld devices (Android, iOS).
Microsoft Certifications and related training will be an asset.
Knowledge and experience working with Linux will be an asset.
Training and/or experience with VoIP phone systems, cellular phones, other mobile communication devices, virtual servers, Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Servers is desired.
A broadband Internet connection at home.
Willingness to be on-call and work some evenings and weekends as required.
Exposure to commercial or retail industry.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to communicate professionally – verbal and written.
Experience in creating ‘how to’ guides for end users.
A technical, logical thought process.
Proven ability to work efficiently and independently and/or with a team, multi-task, meet stringent deadlines and achieve project goals.
Highly organized, including the ability to re-prioritize workload and adapt to changing circumstances.
Problem-solving skills.
Detail oriented and possess strong follow through skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
