Position Overview:
Reporting to the Assistant Treasurer, the role of Manager, Pension and Treasury will work closely with the finance, human resources teams and advisors to ensure global pension plans and treasury projects/initiatives are appropriately managed.

You would be accountable to ensure completion of required periodic actuarial valuations, maintain regulatory compliance and disclosures for all Finning pension plans, ensure DB plan investment strategy aligned with objectives, manage relationships with investment managers, optimize global pension plan liability funding based on prevailing financial market conditions and plan objectives, oversee DC pension plan governance, manage various treasury projects/initiatives and provide support for the global treasury function.

Job Description:
Develop a strategic work plan/risk assessment annually for all pension plans; prepare progress reports as required for the Management Pension Committee and Board committees
Monitor the effectiveness of global governance structure and recommend changes as required
Provide leadership, direction and guidance to subsidiaries and staff in managing pension risk as well as the interpretation, design, administration, and monitoring of global pension plans
Assist in the development of investment strategy for the Company’s DB and DC funds, including recommendations on asset mix, investment policies, fund manager structure and performance targets; perform ad-hoc projects as required
Meet regularly with fund managers and evaluate investment performance; prepare quarterly performance reports for the Board, senior management, and various committees
Monitor portfolio risk and changes in the funding levels; determine appropriate funding policy/strategy
Work with UK Pension Trustees in determining agreeable deficit funding contributions
Prepare budget forecasts with respect to consulting, trustees, investment managers, etc. and update actual utilization against budget on a regular basis
Work closely with actuaries and investment consultants; stay abreast of emerging issues and trends in pension management; communicate key issues to senior management
Conduct research on pension plan design best practices and market benchmarking
Work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure objectives are met
Assist as needed on various treasury projects to manage FX and cash management as well as cash flow forecasting and reporting

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or equivalent;
7+ years of pension experience;
Treasury experience considered an asset
Experience with DB and DC pension plans
Proven project management skills, with the ability to define, lead and manage the process
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely present issues, ideas and recommendations in verbal, written and presentation formats
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and the capacity to work under pressure and tight deadlines
Ability to influence without direct authority
Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office applications (Windows, Excel, Word), Accounting systems, Treasury Workstations, and Analytical Software (i.e. Bloomberg, Reuters).
