An Audiologist reports directly to the Clinical Manager, Provincial Outreach Therapy for Children and is responsible for providing comprehensive, quality audiology services that are consistent with discipline and professional standards. The position is based out of SSCY Centre in Winnipeg and provides audiological services to children and youth both at SSCY Centre and in First Nations communities.
Your Role

Provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for clients referred to Audiology by administering and interpreting conventional and specialized testing, based on the needs of the client, to determine the nature and degree of the hearing loss.

Communicates results and provides supportive counselling to clients and/or their families regarding the nature of the identified hearing loss. Makes appropriate recommendations in consultation with the client/family and identifies and completes other referrals as needed.

Organizes, prioritizes and assumes responsibility for a caseload consistent with service requirements. Prepares accurate, timely clinical reports progress notes and statistical information in accordance with Manitoba Possible policy and CASLPM requirements.

Collaborates with other relevant professionals regarding client care. Prepares and provides education and in-services within SSCY Centre and the community upon request and participates in the orientation and mentorship of new Manitoba Possible staff.

Identifies, evaluates and recommends audiometric equipment as needed. Monitors the maintenance and calibration schedules of clinical equipment.

Maintains professional accountability, professional judgment and reasoning with a proficient level of communication and collaboration.

Attends, participates in and contributes to all regional, organizational, departmental or program meetings and in-services as required.

Participates in student supervision or peer mentoring/supervision as requested.

Completes CPR/First Aid training according to program requirements.

Practices in compliance with applicable provincial and federal legislation.
What You Know
-
Master’s degree in Audiology from an accredited/recognized university.
-
Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM).
-
Completion of and ongoing participation in relevant courses, workshops, etc. to address continuing education requirements of CASLPM and specialization required for service provision.

Ability to travel by air to remote communities.

Previous experience supporting First Nations children, families and communities preferred.

Previous experience providing clinical audiological services for children preferred.

Membership in other professional organizations for example, the Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) considered an asset.
