The Production Cement Professional (Production CP) prime objective is to execute and/or ensure all activities related to production within the plant through a consistent understanding of process and interaction with people of various departments. The Production CP spends significant time in the field and works harmony with the Production Manager directives on key issues affecting the plant operation and performance.
Safety: Carry out daily safety workplace inspections, hazard and field level risk assessments. Maintain housekeeping standards of the Bath facility in order to achieve a clean, safe and environmentally compliant plant.
Plant Optimization: Participate in optimization and benchmarking. Review and streamline work methods (schedules, SOP’s, implement Best Practices) in order to minimize cost & improving efficiencies. Resolve chronic spillages. Identification and understanding performances of equipment compared with design, state-of-the art data bank results.
Production: Work closely with the Production coordinator in scheduling of equipment stoppages for shutdowns and repairs. Resolves daily issues relating to cement production and works with other Departments to resolves issues which can impact shipments or product quality. Carry out studies upstream of projects as well as to specify the production parameters for existing equipment. Ability to lead production checks and propose action plans from this. The awareness of the new production equipment, techniques, or development and subsequent implementation of tests, new methods, and measurements. Assist production engineer in production activities.
Continuous Improvement: Striving for continuous improvement of equipment performance, reliability, efficiency and effectiveness. Running and shutdown inspection and updating inspections in system. Be involved in the field portion of studies, trials, or modifications, taking measurements, making adjustments, and collecting and compiling all relevant data for the purpose of evaluation, providing conclusions and/or determination of follow-up action. Audit the process-related quality of operation, making frequent check-ups and informing the operation group of any significant deviation from goals and procedures, and control proper updating of the production equipment record book. In the environmental area, the incumbent assists in troubleshooting environmental issues, addressing specific issues. The incumbent is involved in development studies, either at preparation stage and/or at the implementation stage, ensuring production issues are addressed.
Relationship with Others
Other departments as needed (Sales, Environment, Process etc)
Reviewing PPW, Technical information system, daily trends with operators and provides constructive feedback and follows up.
Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required.
Participate in the preparation of operating parameters in setting of goals, targets, or record procedures.
Prepares and submits the Refractory portions of the Production Department budget.
Prepare weekly, monthly and annual production schedules relative to sales forecast.
Post-secondary education in the field of engineering, chemical engineering preferred.
Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience in the heavy industrial industry
Strong background in engineering or science
Knowledgeable in: Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics Minerals, Organics/fuels, computerization, Statistics, Production Quality Control/Quality Assurance, Automation, Environmental issues
Good aptitude and awareness for field / troubleshooting work.
Ability to formulate and ensure completion of plans.
Strong communicational (both written and oral), and analytical skills for both technical knowledge and human assets.
Must work well under pressure and be adaptable to overtime where required to meet deadlines.
