As a Manager, IFRS 9 and Risk Reporting you will be primarily responsible for the sustainable production and reporting of IFRS-9, supporting the AIRB implementation and production. In this position, you will play an important role in both the development stage and the sustainable production stage of the Risk Function to ensure that CWB remains in compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements.

Make an impact by working with risk based Expected Credit Losses (ECL) production (loss calculation, governance, control process, reporting, analysis, etc.) and implementation of new/updated IFRS-9 models (e.g. staging). Leverage your expertise in BCAR production validation (RWA replication, analysis etc.) and ICAAP forward looking credit risk production (risk based ECL results, stress testing results, control process, reporting, etc.)

Key Focuses:
IFRS-9 Risk Reporting

Operate and maintain the IFRS-9 ECL calculation engine and related processes to produce timely and accurate ECL results.

Validate the process inputs and outputs for quality control and governance.

Provide in-depth analysis on IFRS-9 results and identify key drivers for ECL movements.

Collaborate with IFRS-9 stakeholders, including Finance, Integrated Risk Management, Model Development, Risk IT, Model Vetting Unit, and Internal Audit.

Prepare risk based ECL production results, analysis and presentation materials for IFRS-9 stakeholders.

Provide support for ad-hoc requests required by IFRS-9 stakeholders and senior management in a precise and efficient manner.

Identify, recommend and implement process improvement opportunities for IFRS-9 reporting, analysis and control.

Conduct insightful impact analysis for model updates, data migration and process changes.

Contribute to the IFRS-9 staging methodology enhancement, including but not limited to model development and validation activities.

Develop and maintain the IFRS-9 related documentation. Review and evaluate the technical implementation and results.

Contribute to strategic risk initiatives by using analytical skills to project potential losses, and make recommendations to limit risk.

Demonstrate insight into internal client's business and develop innovative solutions that create value.

A-IRB Implementation and Production Support

Support the BCAR production validation process, such as data comparison, reconciliation and analysis.

Participate in the ICAAP implementation and production for risk based ECL results under both base case and stressed scenarios.

Support CWB’s A-IRB implementation program in line with emerging regulatory expectations.

Essential Education and Experience:
Masters in a relevant field such as Financial Engineering, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Science

Completion or progression in CFA and/or FRM would be an asset.

Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in financial areas with In-depth understanding of IFRS-9 requirements, production, analysis and reporting, and knowledge of credit risk modeling and validation.

Previous risk management experience would be an asset.

Strong data skills including reconciliation, validation and cleaning, and solid programming skills (i.e. SAS, VBA, Matlab, Python, etc.).

Hands-on experience in process validation and control.

Hands-on experience in managing, reconciling, and interpreting large and complex enterprise level data sets.

Hands-on experience in business and/or technical writing with clear and concise written communication skills.

Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to work independently with limited guidance
