Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Communications Specialist is responsible for the creation of dynamic content to foster engagement with key stakeholder groups and representing a consistent, brand-aligned and positive organizational image through effective media and public relations strategies. The Specialist is a passionate writer who will apply their passion for storytelling to elevate the CN Tower’s profile and brand image among key audiences, leveraging media, social media, marketing communications and thought leadership strategies. Additionally, the Specialist will be responsible for preparing and distributing media materials, assisting in media event planning, pitching story ideas, finding and executing opportunities that will enable the CN Tower to elevate its brand and measure the efforts. This will include monitoring media trends and stories; research stakeholder positions and contribution to the development of plans that will support the CN Tower’s brand positioning, strengthen its reputation, reinforce its continued relevance and engage the local market, with a goal to encourage increased visitation during the off-season.


PUBLIC RELATIONSPitches story ideas and maintains a network of media contacts to secure earned media coverageMaintains relationships with key media personalities and influencers. Secures earned media content Crafts news releases, media fact sheets, and supports media events, etc. Creates compelling communications to engage stakeholders in the CN Tower’s organizational story and support the refreshed brand positioningResearches, monitors and reports on relevant industry and communications trends Produces media analysis and reportingEvaluates media inquiries, assists with requirements and supports work to prepare an appropriate spokesperson as neededWrites and develops articles, media pitches, speeches, op-eds Secondary spokespersonIssues managementSOCIAL MEDIACreates and administrates corporate social media accounts as required.Executes and informs the ongoing evolution of social media strategies to elevate the CN Tower storytelling capacity and optimize its channels and content. Produces social media analysis reports Conducts social media monitoring for sensitive topics and issuesCreates compelling content that is aligned with the CN Tower’s brand positioning to foster increased engagement with our audiences on social media Creates timely, brand-aligned responses to posts and reviews on social mediaUsing appropriate tools, moderates’ interactions with the public and ensures the Company’s social media policies and procedures are respectedDevelops and evolves the brand voice of the towerCOMMUNICATIONS Supports the Manager, Communications and the Manager, Marketing with the writing, editing and production of communications materials, including content for employee monitorsWrites and edits content to populate the CN Tower’s Intranet platformWrites and edits content for the CN Tower’s website


Post-secondary diploma or certificate in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or equivalent experience is required. A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience in public relations, social media and/or marketing communication is required. Comprehensive understanding and familiarity with trends in marketing, journalism, public relations, social media, brand journalism, and thought leadership strategies are required. A high degree of French language proficiency is required.Advanced skills in the MS Office environment, specifically Microsoft Office Suite
