Job Description

We are looking for a Media Finance Analyst to be a key member of our Media Finance Team. You are primarily responsible for providing value added business advice and financial counsel as it relates to month end, quarter end and forecasting activities to internal and external clients. You will play an active role in maintaining the integrity of the management reporting by ensuring strong financial analysis and the strict application of policies and procedures. You should be prepared to acquire a significant understanding of business unit activities such that you can identify opportunities to provide value-added business support to the management team - examples include analysis of business performance metrics/drivers, business opportunity evaluation, and operational efficiency/effectiveness measurement.

Key Responsibility Areas

Provide analytical reporting and on-going development of business solution.
Manage the media finance forecast process (Monthly Forecast, Quarterly Forecast) and be responsible for coordinating and resolving all forecast related issues. You will work closely with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, Account Management, Media Operations and Corporate Accounting.
Schedule periodic meetings with these stakeholders to provide updates to the team and address key issues.
Improve and streamline existing media finance actuals reporting and forecasting processes.
Define key process metrics and ensure proper execution.
Ensure team and personal deliverables are met on time and steward work flow and project management. Establish a work plan for each deliverable and direct and define for the team key task assignments and partner and client liaison.
Analyze and explain variances versus appropriate comparative periods.
Prepares accurate annual media finance budget & reforecast, considering scope of work and media budget changes
Support Manager with assessing and communicating monthly risks and opportunities.
Provide supportive guidance and consultancy in the multi-facet areas of Media Finance:
Billing for Products: BCR Reviews, Scheduling changes, Invoices and Billings
Payables, Receivables and vendor or partner questions or issues
Manage the media finance reconciliation process with shared financial service for accounts receivable, accounts payable, media operations, media strategy, and corporate accounting as it relates to timely review and reconciliations of accounts with a view to credit and debit adjustments
Coordination of Insertion Orders, billing approvals with inter-company partner(s)
Prepare ad-hoc reports for internal and external client(s)


3+ years progressive experience in a financial management or reporting role in Advertising, Media and/or Marketing organization
Understanding of financial accounting principles
Excellent analytical skills, and experience building and working with financial models
Experience working with Canadian Industry tools for media buying and financial operations
Strong grasp of programmatic media financials as it relates to vendor trafficking and scheduling reconciliation, programmatic fees and overall bottom-line reconciliation
Strong competency in Excel including VLOOKUP & Pivot Tables and data mining/modeling
Agency operations / financial experience is an asset
Ability to focus on details and follow through a high volume of transactions
Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in a related field such as Business Administration, Advertising, Marketing or Finance
