WHAT YOU WILL DO

University Health Network (UHN) is looking to hire an experienced Manager to lead our Talent Acquisition and Volunteer Resources teams. This permanent full-time role will be based out of our corporate offices located at the Toronto General Hospital.

As a pivotal member of the UHN Human Resources leadership team, you will be instrumental in helping position UHN for the future! You will be responsible for creating a recruitment strategy to source great candidates and volunteers while ensuring that UHN provides a differentiating candidate/volunteer experience from first touchpoint to first day, and beyond. Your knowledge and experience in sourcing top talent, building and maintaining strong candidate pools, maintaining a remarkable employer brand and value proposition and using novel practices and technologies to engage with talent will help us fulfill our People Strategy and ultimately, contribute to the provision of excellent patient care.

You understand the value that volunteers bring to hospitals. As the leader for Volunteer Resources, you will be on the lookout look for new ways to profile and recognize our amazing volunteers. In addition, you and your team will continue to identify new opportunities to enhance the patient experience and provide support to our healthcare workers.

YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership of the Talent Acquisition and Volunteer Resources Teams - Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring and guidance to the team members, while ensuring that both the Talent Acquisition and Volunteer Resources teams operate productively and efficiently. Foster an environment of continued professional development and customer service. Ensure the teams have access to and leverage the best in training and coaching.
Continuous Improvement of sourcing & candidate experience - Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment and sourcing models for both employees and volunteers through implementing benchmarks and goals aligned to business requirements and UHN’s People Strategy
Talent Systems & Insights – Provide business insights through the use of data analytics and reporting. Drive innovative and dynamic strategy and execution of modern practices and technology enablement for talent acquisition and volunteer management. Create and maintain up-to-date talent policies and processes. Leverage existing technology to maximize utility of the ATS capabilities.
Build and maintain strong working relationships - Partner with internal organizational leaders to understand business and specific talent needs. Proactively reach out to external partners to search for candidate pipeline opportunities and to better understand workforce planning requirements of the organization.
Employer Branding– Be the Employer Branding expert. Utilize various progressive strategies to ensure that UHN’s employment brand is present on social media and other venues, and niche spaces as appropriate. Continuously seek to raise the profile of UHN’s opportunities and use proactive sourcing techniques to find and attract top talent.

WHAT YOU BRING WITH YOU

Solutions driven, creative, and passionate about Talent Acquisition and Volunteers
A degree in human resources management, business administration or relevant field
Human Resources leader with 5+ years progressive experience in an organization with a high volume recruiting environment
People management experience (3+ years) with highly developed coaching skills and a proven track record of creating high performing teams and achieving/demonstrating results
Expert knowledge of strategic talent acquisition program development and modern practices
Experience with workforce planning in a large organization
Knowledge of recruitment in a unionized environment
Digital and analytical literacy
Experience with full service ATS and HRIS systems
Social Media acumen
Previous experience advising on work permits and other immigration related matters
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent consultative skills with a strong customer focus and keen understanding of business requirements
