Position Overview: The Marketing Lead plays a key role in overseeing, developing, and managing all inbound and outbound marketing initiatives on behalf of Caledon Community Services (CCS). This is a critical and complex role responsible for driving brand awareness and community engagement through strategic positioning of the agency and the programs and services we provide.

Summary of Responsibilities: under the leadership of the Director of Communications and Marketing, the incumbent:

  • Partners with the Director, Communications and Marketing and the Communications Lead to envision and develop an integrated marketing strategy that helps mobilize the community, elevates the position of CCS’ services, and drives growth and user engagement and ensures brand integrity.;
  • Creates content commensurate with current marketing practices including video, animations, written, graphics etc.;
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all activities are aligned with marketing initiatives;
  • Manages the strategy, overall design, and implementation of all paid and non-paid marketing campaigns, both online and in more traditional channels;
  • Monitors, measures, analyzes, and reports on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives as they relate to the company’s overall goals and objectives and their impact on CCS’ brand;
  • Continuously strives to create innovative marketing ideas that elevates the CCS brand and drives organizational growth;
  • Measures and optimizes website functionality and user experience;
  • Develops a solid one-page SEO strategy, continuously checks and refines CCS’ SEO keywords, and executes strategies that drive off-page SEO such as inbound links;
  • Evaluates quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns to better understand audience behaviour and segment audiences appropriately;
  • Monitors the non-profit industry in terms of marketing activities and trends, and to continuously benchmark CCS’ quality of content and marketing activities;
  • Recommends, and implements changes as a result of data analysis of all marketing initiatives;
  • Adheres to budget requirements and funder guidelines; compiles data required for budgets and participates in budget discussions;
  • Establishes marketing KPIs, and prepares marketing analysis reports;
  • Designs and helps develop publications and marketing tools such as brochures, newsletters, hand-outs, AGM support materials, banners, swag, and content for direct mail campaigns;
  • Maintains promotional materials inventory, and develops schedule for ordering/stocking of materials;
  • Manage supplier and consultant relationships against budget, utilizing negotiation skills in the best interest of CCS.

Summary of Qualifications:

Education Required

  • Post-secondary in Marketing & Communications, Public Relations, digital marketing, website design, graphic design or other related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Nature of Experience Required

  • 2 - 5 years of related work experience;
  • Proficiency in developing targeting marketing campaigns on a variety of diverse platforms: social media, website, e-mail, community events, video, etc.;
  • Additional courses, training, or work experience in non-profits, volunteer work, fundraising management, digital certifications etc.; Research skills an asset;
  • Curate educational, entertaining and informative material that advances CCS interest and image, both internally and externally;
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing the development of marketing strategies;
  • Demonstrated experience with direct marketing and market segmentation;

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Knowledge of graphic design, video production and editing;
  • Content management platforms such as WordPress, SmartDocs, Lucidpress, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.;
  • Document collaboration tools, such as SharePoint, Google Docs, MS Teams, Dropbox, etc.;
  • Social media channel integrations with software (website, marketing campaigns, etc. and use of backlinks; Social Media Content / Marketing Automation software such as Hootsuite, Constant Contact, Zoho, Active Campaign, Animaker, etc.;
  • Google Search algorithms, Google Ads, and SEO;
  • Website design and development knowledge to oversee technical support, HTML, CSS, and a variety of CMS including CRAFT, WP, Squarespace, Wix etc.; Videography development for YouTube;
  • Social Intranet software (employee portals) and corporate screensavers;
  • Private & Group messaging / chat apps;
  • Project Management software (Basecamp, Trello, Asana,
  • Demonstrated ability to chart new approaches that keep campaigns fresh and relevant to changing demographics and platforms (social media, etc).
  • Strong project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple interdependent/ intertwined campaigns; Strong ability to research, evaluate, analyze, and interpret data;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand online user behaviours in order to create compelling and emotional campaigns;
  • Technically fluent, able to swiftly adapt to a rapidly changing digital world;
  • Ability to provide leadership, training, and guidance on areas of expertise;
  • Highly organized; able to establish priorities and meet hard deadlines;
  • Strong judgement and decision-making ability;
  • Moderate degree of distracting stimuli present; can expect to work in a fast-paced role in which regular online interactions are required throughout the day, and compete with other in-house priorities and projects. Constant need to stay abreast of the complex and rapidly changing nature digital marketing and best practices;
  • Lifting of up to 20lbs.;
  • Some travel to local events in the community, or CCS sponsored events;
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
