The Agency currently has available multiple Permanent Full-time Child Protection Worker positions at both the Kitchener and Cambridge sites. These positions may be required to perform either Intake, Ongoing or Investigation duties depending on service needs. Positions to fulfill Ongoing duties are currently in the most need.

This position provides protective and preventative service as mandated under the Child and Family Services Act to families and children; investigates complaints of children alleged to be in need of protection, assumes case management responsibility for protection caseload; assesses family and individual functioning; provides therapeutic intervention to clients; provides protective services to clients including: apprehending children and bringing all related matter to the Ontario Court of Justice (Family Division); prepares reports, correspondence and documents for internal and external use; provides coverage to Children’s Services Workers, as required.

  • MSW preferred, BSW or a Bachelor’s Degree combined with child protection experience
  • Previous experience in child welfare an asset
  • Experience working with at risk children and families
  • Bilingual English/French considered an asset
  • Above average written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Acceptable Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License with access to reliable vehicle
Applicants should also possess a proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team; strong assessment skills in order to assess clients’ needs, formulate plans of service and monitor/evaluate progress; proven crisis intervention skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong time management skills.

Salary Range:

Social Work - Grade 8
